Firmware upgrade is not difficult but must be very careful because inappropriate operations will probably destroy your data and cause data loss.

No hard disk drive manufactur will warrant the data on your drive, in addition to regular back-ups, if possible your data should be backed up before upgrading the drive firmware. So read carefully about the manufacturer’s terms and conditions about firmware update.

Seagate released firmware update utility for Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 for the following drives:

Firmware Update for ST3250310NS, ST3500320NS, ST3750330NS, ST31000340NS

Please verify your drive model number, serial number, and firmware revision using the Drive Detect software.

Note: If your drive has CC firmware, your drive is not affected and no further action is required. Attempting to flash the firmware of a drive with CC firmware will result in rendering your drive inoperable.

Note: The download utility will abort if it is not compatible with your current firmware revision. If your firmware version for these models is already SD1B or SD2B, your drive does not need a firmware update.
